<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer for a roller bearing capable of achieving low torque characteristics and weight reduction while improving the roller assemblability. <P>SOLUTION: The retainer 2 for the roller bearing includes annular flange parts 4 which are arranged oppositely to each other in a direction orthogonal to a central axis Ax, a plurality of pillars 6 formed in the circumferential direction at predetermined intervals, and a plurality of pockets 10 in which a plurality of rollers 8 are rotatably assembled one by one. Each pillar 6 has a dummy hole 12 formed by penetrating the pillar 6. Each dummy hole 12 is configured to satisfy the relations a<b and b<g, and the circumferential dummy hole width (a) is set to satisfy the relationship c<d, where (a) is the circumferential dummy hole width, (b) is the axial dummy hole length, (c) is the circumferential pillar width of a part extending between each dummy hole 12 and the pocket 10 on both sides in the circumferential direction, (d) is the circumferential pocket width, and (g) is the axial pocket length.
