The apparatus has book covers (13,14) in which books are arranged in horizontal or up to 45 degree. The books are opened unfold and the hanging down pages of the book are cleaned with pressurized air blown in downward direction from the air nozzles (17). The book spine (2) is detected with the low pressure suction device and is moved with the conveyor rail (12). The micro-lenses are arranged in the interspaces of the nozzle rows for irradiating UV light for disinfection.
