PURPOSE: A surface defect control method of stainless steel and the stainless steel using the same are provided to easily control the content of delta ferrite at an edge portion of a slab using the amount of the coolants. CONSTITUTION: A surface defect control method of stainless steel is as follows. The content of delta ferrite is controlled by the amount of first and second coolant that respectively cool upper and lower parts of a slab. Surface defects in the stainless steel are controlled using the content of the delta ferrite. The quantity of non-water elements in the first coolant is smaller than the quantity of non-water elements in the second coolant. The quantity of non-water elements in the first coolant is 0.30~0.40L/kg-steel. The quantity of non-water elements in the second coolant is 0.40~0.50L/kg-steel. |
