PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for a rectangular copper wire capable of minimizing degradation in reliability of overlap when the rectangular copper wire is coated by winding the coating material spirally while overlapping partially, and to provide a coated rectangular copper wire provided with the coating material and an electrical apparatus.

SOLUTION: The coating material which is wound spirally around a rectangular copper wire while overlapping partially includes a base material having a tensile elasticity of 5.0 GPa or higher at 25°C.
