A digital broadcasting system and a method for processing digital broadcasting are provided to perform added encoding with respect to enhanced data and transmit the enhanced data, thereby improving the reception performance of a receiver. A frame is formed to correct errors by collecting K (a natural number) rows including A (a natural number) enhanced data bytes having information. Primary error correction encoding is performed in a column direction or a row direction, and secondary error correction encoding is performed with respect to frames subject to the primary error correction encoding in the other direction. The row-directional error correction encoding is RS encoding in which (Nr,Kr)-RS encoding is performed in each row direction and Nr-Kr parity data are added in each row. |
