PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a degree-of-glossiness judging method in which the degree of glossiness on the surface of an object can be measured and judged precisely with a simple and low-cost constitution. SOLUTION: A beam of light which is contained in an infrared region to a visible region is shone at, and reflected by, the object. A beam of reflected light is divided into two beams of reflected light by a first polarizing filter and a second polarizing filter whose transmission directions are different, the two beams of reflected light are detected by a position detecting sensor, and output currents according to quantities of the two beams of reflected light are signal-processed. The output currents according to the quantities of the beam of reflected light are shunted to two current amplifier circuits, and they are then inputted to an inverting amplifier so as to be signal-processed.
