<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plug/jack system containing a lattice network to reduce crosstalk in the plug/jack system. <P>SOLUTION: A jack is provided that has a compensation zone and a crosstalk zone. At least one of the zones employs a lattice network that couples conductors in the zone to reduce the net crosstalk in the plug/jack system. The lattice network has a frequency response slope that is different from the frequency response slope of a first-order coupling or of a series LC circuit coupling.
