发明名称 DRYING BIOMASS USING AN ELECTRIC CURRENT
摘要 The present patent of invention relates to a process for drying biomass using heat generated by forcing an electric current resulting from the application of a controlled voltage directly through the biomass. The organic elements that constitute the biomass are more electrically conductive due to the unwanted water contained therein. When a sufficient level of voltage is applied to cause an avalanche of electric current to flow through the biomass, the moisture is evaporated following the "JOULE" effect. Said process can be used for drying various types of moist biomass such as: wood for coal, firewood, wood chips, coal powder, sugar cane bagasse, napier grass, wood posts and accessories and other structural or energy biomasses, using simple devices for applying the voltage. Currently used processes are natural drying for several months or forced drying using equipment that combines heat injection and mechanical agitation or molecular agitation, however significant amounts of electrical and thermal energy are used. Due to the lack of options, losses due to the mobilization of stocks, lower heat of combustion and unnecessary transport of residual water throughout the logistics cycle are incorporated into the costs and represent considerable energy losses, resulting in an expensive and inefficient process.
