Drive system for a wind turbine

The drive system has a gear unit (1) comprising planetary wheel stages (11,12). The planetary wheel stages comprise a hollow wheel, multiple planetary wheels, a planetary carrier and a sun wheel. A shaft is assigned to the gear unit and is supported over the planetary carrier. The shaft has a coupling flange (14) connected with a working machine or rotor shaft. A gear housing (15) surrounds the gear unit and a motor- or generator unit (2). The motor- or generator unit is connected with another shaft of the gear unit.
