NINETY-DEGREE BENT METALLIC WAVEGUIDE WITH TAPERED C-SHAPED APERTURE, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING WAVEGUIDE, OPTICAL TRANSMISSION MODULE USING WAVEGUIDE, AND HEAT AUXILIARY MAGNETIC RECORDING HEAD ADOPTING WAVEGUIDE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 90° bent metallic waveguide with a tapered C-shaped aperture, a method of manufacturing the waveguide, an optical transmission module using the waveguide, and an HAMR (Heat Auxiliary Magnetic Recording) head adopting the waveguide.

SOLUTION: In a metallic waveguide 111 composed of electrically conductive metal in which an aperture 113 to transmit light is disposed inside, the aperture comprises: bent structure between an input end 111a and an output end 111b so that an advancing direction of light is turned; and tapered structure of which width is gradually narrowed toward an output end side between a bent part and the output end. In the metallic waveguide, the aperture has a C-shaped figure by forming a ridge part 114 projected at an inside face of the metal forming the aperture.
