<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deviation in rotation immediately after the completion of fuel injection amount change. <P>SOLUTION: This inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation failure detection device for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine changes a fuel injection amount of a predetermined target cylinder during an idle operation, and detects an inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation failure on the basis of the rotation variation of the target cylinder at least after the change. Idle rotation speed control is executed, for causing the actual rotation speed to agree with a target idle rotation speed during the idle operation. During the fuel injection amount change, a target opening θt is calculated, on the basis of a correction amount Δθ based on a difference between the actual rotation speed and the target idle rotation speed, a learning value θg in accordance with the correction amount, and a correction value θa for correcting at least one of them.
