<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the amount of light with which a document is irradiated, in an image reading apparatus which can read both surfaces of the manuscript. <P>SOLUTION: In the image reading apparatus 1, a CIS 30 and a CIS 40 placed across a conveyance path 22 are located at positions where they are affected by the light irradiated from the light source of a CIS on the reverse side. The amount of light irradiated from the light sources 31, 41 is controlled to be reduced in a first state Z1 where at least one of the leading edge or the trailing edge of the document G, in the conveyance direction indicated by an arrow 37, exists between a position P2 and a position P3, when compared with the amount of light in a second state Z2 where the leading edge of the document G is located on the downstream side of the position P3 and the training edge of the document G is located on the upstream side of the position P2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
