<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion current detection apparatus in which reduction in costs can be achieved. <P>SOLUTION: An ion current detection apparatus includes: an ignition coil 1 which is configured by electromagnetically coupling a primary coil L1 and a secondary coil L2; a switching element 2 for controlling ON/OFF of a current of the primary coil L1; an ignition plug which is discharged during the OFF of the switching element 2; a transistor Q2 which outputs an output voltage of a first DC level generated by dropping a DC voltage of a DC power source; a transistor Q1 which is operated by receiving, in an emitter terminal, the output voltage of the transistor Q2 and outputs a detection voltage from a load resistor R2 connected to a collector terminal, and a bias resistor R1 disposed between a base terminal of the transistor Q1 and the ignition plug.
