<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a battery equipped with a high quality electrode efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for manufacturing a battery including: a thick-kneading step (S10) for adding a solvent to a raw material containing an active material and a binder and kneading them to obtain a thick-kneaded object; a dilution step (S20) for diluting the kneaded object with the solvent to obtain a slurry for forming an active material layer; and a coating step (S30) for coating the slurry on a collector to obtain an electrode. In the thick-kneading step (S10), the solvent is added to the raw material and kneaded. A temperature of the kneaded object at that time is measured so as to grasp transition of a change rate (dT/dV) of a temperature T of the kneaded object to an added amount V of the solvent. Then, after the solvent of 5 mass% or more based on a total solid content of the raw material is added, and before the change rate is decreased to equal to or less than a predefined threshold and to 0°C/ml, the addition of the solvent is stopped.
