<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colorant-containing open-cell porous body which can be suitably used as a base for flower arrangements or culture soil for growing plants, and to provide a water absorbing material. <P>SOLUTION: In the open-cell porous body, an open-cell porous structure is formed with the walls of fine pores, which are configured by mutually bonding crushed pieces of powder obtained by crushing the foam of a resin composition. The open-cell porous body is obtained by molding the mixture obtained by mixing the colorant of 0.001-10 pts.wt. with the powder of 100 pts.wt. The open-cell porous body contains the surfactant of 0.1-30 pts.wt. based on the powder of 100 pts.wt. The open-cell porous body has the apparent density of 0.01-0.2 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>, the 10% compressive stress of 0.02-0.3 MPa, and the compression recovery rate of ≤95%.
