<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the acquisition of an EMT(epithelial-mesenchymal transition)-like trait as an indicator of malignancy common to cancer not specified to tissue or cell. <P>SOLUTION: A method for diagnosing malignancy of cancer is provided in which ESRP, a common target gene of transcription factors inducing EMT, is evaluated as an indicator of an EMT-like trait.
