<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer that verifies data in an MBR (Master Boot Record) and backup sectors, and automatically performs recovery and start processing when either of them cannot be read normally or the data are improper. <P>SOLUTION: When a shutdown is detected, the MBR and a backup MBR are read, and if the MBR data and the backup MBR data do not coincide, the MBR is copied to the backup MBR. Or, if the backup MBR cannot be read normally or is improper, the MBR is copied to the backup MBR.
