[Problem] Obtained is a structure configured so that the structure can be easily designed to sufficiently ensure a collapse stroke irrespective of the presence of a key lock cylinder and so that the structure can ensure the sufficiently high supporting rigidity of a steering column (1a) in a normal state. [Solution] A vehicle body-side bracket (5a) is provided with a stationary-side support plate section (17) provided only on one side of a column-side bracket (4a) in the width direction. The column-side bracket (4a) is supported relative to the stationary-side support plate section (17) so that the column-side bracket (4a) can be displaced forward by an impact load during a secondary collision. The column-side bracket (4a) is also supported relative to a vehicle body-side bracket (5a) at the mounting plate section (21) of the column-side bracket (4a) so that the column-side bracket (4a) can be displaced forward by an impact load during a secondary collision, the mounting plate section (21) being provided at the portion of the column-side bracket (4a) which is on the opposite side of the steering column (1a) from the stationary-side support plate section (17) in the width direction. A key lock cylinder is provided on the side opposite the stationary-side support plate section (17) at a position at the rear of the steering column (1a). |
