PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel circuit used for a shift register or the like.

SOLUTION: A basic configuration includes first to fourth transistors and first to fourth wires. Power source potential VDD is supplied to the first wire and power source potential VSS is supplied to the second wire. A binary digital signal is supplied to each of the third and fourth wires. This digital signal is at the same potential as the power source potential VDD while the signal is at a high level, and the signal is at the same potential as the power source potential VSS while the signal is at a low level. There are four possible combinations of the potentials of the third and fourth wires; the first to fourth transistors can be turned off by any combination of the potentials. That is, since there is no transistor that is normally on, the characteristic deterioration of the transistor can be suppressed.
