Provided are a method and device for closing a session with an access terminal. The method includes: during the switching from a source access network to a target access network, an access terminal generating Personality information at the source access network side according to the session information corresponding to the access terminal stored by the source access network, wherein the Personality information includes the Personality types of each set of Personalities in the session information and the validity judgment identifier corresponding to each set of Personalities respectively; and sending to the target access network a session transfer request including Personality information. The embodiments of the present invention avoid the phenomenon of misjudgment when the target AN judges whether or not to close a session during the switching among ANs.
