APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HIGHLY EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF WATER-SOLUBLE SACCHARIDE DERIVED FROM PAPER SLUDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein a saccharification reaction may not advance well because of an environment where it is difficult for a saccharifying enzyme to decompose cellulose depending on the state of pulp-based organic waste even though lignin is eliminated in the case of producing biomass ethanol from the pulp-based organic waste.

SOLUTION: An apparatus and a method are provided for obtaining a state where it is easy for the saccharifying enzyme to saccharify cellulose by pretreating the pulp-based organic waste with subcritical/supercritical water prior to the saccharification reaction. Cellulose can thereby be moderately decomposed without being overdecomposed, and the state of cellulose suitable for the saccharification reaction can be created. Further, the production of furfural that impedes a fermentation reaction can be suppressed. In addition, a preservative that impedes a saccharification/fermentation reaction can be decomposed.
