摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image quality from deteriorating due to overshooting of semiconductor light sources. <P>SOLUTION: A light source device 12 of an electronic endoscope system 2 includes first and second semiconductor laser light sources 55 and 56 which are semiconductor light sources. When an oxygen saturation computation mode to compute the oxygen saturation of blood hemoglobin is chosen, a CPU 66 of the light source device 12 turns on one light source, for example, at 10% of a rated output when the other from among the light sources 55 and 56 is turned on at 100% of the rated output without any of the light sources 55 and 56 being turned off. The CPU repeats this turning-on action on an accumulation and reading period basis of a CCD 33. The CPU performs the correlation computation of each of picture element values of RGB of thus obtained first and second images P1 and P2 by an oxygen saturation computation section 70 and removes noise components caused by the constant turning-on of the first and second semiconductor laser light sources 55 and 56 from the first and second images P1 and P2.
