PURPOSE: A flat panel display device and a driving method thereof are provided to implement high definition images by expanding the range of gradation. CONSTITUTION: 10-bit image data is inputted from the outside(S1). A first frame period is divided into a first sub frame and a second sub frame(S2). An upper 8-bit image data is outputted to the first sub frame. A lower 2-bit image data is converted into 8-bit image data. The converted 8-bit image data is outputted to the second sub frame.
