摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detection device of an internal combustion engine, which accurately determines the presence or absence of a fault in an injector. <P>SOLUTION: An ethanol concentration sensor 32, which is arranged midway through a fuel feed passage 28 for feeding the injector 22 with fuel in a fuel tank 26 subject to the supply of ethanol, gasoline or mixed fuel made from the ethanol and the gasoline and which detects an ethanol concentration, is provided. An air-fuel ratio sensor 38, which is arranged midway through an exhaust passage 16 and which detects an air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas, is provided. A fuel injection amount calculation means calculates the injection amount of fuel injected from the injector on the basis of fuel injection time of the injector 22. The fault in the injector 22 is detected on the basis of the result of comparison between a reference fuel amount Qs and an accumulated fuel injection amount Q from the time when a change in the ethanol concentration is detected on the basis of the output of the ethanol concentration sensor 32, to the time when a change in the air-fuel ratio, caused by the change of the ethanol concentration, is detected on the basis of the output of the air-fuel ratio sensor 38. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
