A map data upgrade method for a telematics service of a mobile communication terminal, a map upgrade server for performing the method, and a system are provided to use a mobile communication terminal equipped with map data, thus a user can receive a telematics service by using the map data equipped in the terminal without wirelessly downloading a lot of map data when receiving the telematics service. A map upgrade server receives more than one piece of information such as an MIN(Mobile Identification Number), terminal information, and a map data version(S410). The server decides whether a mobile communication terminal is registered in a service(S420). If so, the server compares the received map data version with an up-to-date map data version of a map DB(S430). If upgrading is to be performed, the server extracts equivalent data according to contents of the map data version(S440,S450). The server transmits the extracted up-to-date map data to the terminal(S460). |
