<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective and appropriate vibration control structure which allows X-shaped braces installed in the skeleton frame of a building to also function as a vibration control damper so as to have an excellent vibration control effect. <P>SOLUTION: Two diagonal members 5 are crossed in an X-shaped form in a skeleton frame 1, so that X-shaped braces 4 are installed for actuating as a damper resulting from interlaminar deformation in the skeleton frame. The X-shaped braces are composed of the diagonal members of which central parts are crossed in the X-shaped form in a laminated state enabling relative rotation and relative displacement. A viscoelastic body 6 is inserted into the crossed part. Each of the diagonal members has a significantly different axial rigidity at both ends such that the axial rigidity at one end is relatively higher than the axial rigidity at the other end.
