#CMT# #/CMT# The tool (1) has telescopic outer grippers (3a, 3b, 3d, 3e) for retaining a composite material mat (4) i.e. composite material mat stack. Heating elements (6) i.e. halogen radiators, perform partial heat treatment of the mat at the tool. The grippers are arranged at an elongated base body (2) of the tool and pneumatically actuatable. The heating elements are arranged next to a base element. Form strips (9) are movable relative to the base body, arranged at sides (7, 8) of the base body and movably activated by a position actuator. #CMT# : #/CMT# The grippers are designed as suction grippers, needle grippers and/or freezing grippers. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a motor car composite material component. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Draping tool for use with an industrial robot to transport and drape planar fiber composite material mats i.e. resin mats, on a form unit i.e. form core, to manufacture engineering parts i.e. B- pillar, of an automobile i.e. motor car (claimed). The form strips are easily interchangeable at the base body, so that preparation time for manufacturing various components of the tool is reduced and maintenance time, manufacturing cost and space requirement of the tool are reduced.
