<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber that, having capability of easy manufacture, enables transmitting of light over a long distance and leaking of light through an arbitrary-shaped part, and a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical fiber 11, light which is made incident on a core 12 from an end part thereof is made to be emitted from a lateral surface thereof. The optical fiber 11 includes: a core 12 made of quartz glass; a cladding 13, formed on the outer periphery of the core 12, made of a curing composition containing a fluorine-based ultraviolet-curing resin; and a scattering layer 14 containing a scatterer, which is applied on the outer periphery of the core 12 using an inkjet method and interposed between the core 12 and the cladding 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
