<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for modifying a structure, along with a fitting method thereof, wherein fitting of a new member to an existing structure is easy, with no degradation in fastening strength. <P>SOLUTION: The member 10 for modifying a structure is fitted to an existing fastening portion 2 of a structure using a plurality of bolts 8' and nuts 9' when a maximum load does not act on the structure. It includes a modifying member 11 wherein an escape part K1 for avoiding interference with some nuts among the plurality of bolts and nuts is formed and which can be fastened to the structure with remaining bolts and nuts, and an auxiliary member 12 which is inserted into a gap S1 generated by the escape part K1 and is fastened to the structure together with the modifying member by some of the bolts and nuts. Since the modifying member is provided with the escape part K1, the modifying member can be fitted without detaching all of the fastening means at the existing fastening portion of the structure.
