<p>A pressure compensating device for compensating fluid pressure within a sealed enclosure includes a cylinder 1 divided into a first chamber 4 and a second chamber 5 by a piston 3, wherein: the first chamber 4 communicates with the enclosure and the second chamber 5 communicates with the environment. The piston 3 is arranged to adjust the relative volumes of the first 4 and second 5 chambers in response to a difference in pressure between the said chambers by moving within the cylinder 1. The piston 3 is arranged to allow fluid communication between the enclosure and the environment when the piston 3 is in at least one position within the cylinder 1. This may be accomplished by grooves 10, 11 at the extreme ends of the cylinder 1.</p> |
