<p>A free machining zinc-copper based wrought zinc alloy and a preparation method thereof. The zinc alloy is characterized by having the following composition by weight: copper 0.5 to 10%, bismuth 0.1 to 3.5%, titanium 0.001 to 0.1%, inevitable impurities = 0.01%, and a balance of zinc. The smelting process of the alloy uses a line frequency furnace, a medium frequency furnace or a reverberatory furnace; after smelting, the alloy is made into a casting billet by using a continuous casting or permanent casting method; the hot extrusion temperature is 180°C to 400°C, and finally made into bar stock, wire or profile products of various specifications via cold drawing. The products obtained can be used on an automatic lathe, a drilling machine and an instrument lathe. The alloy provided according to the present invention has good machining property, is easy to process and galvanize, and has moderate mechanical properties.</p> |
