<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photon frequency converter with reduced cost and noise. <P>SOLUTION: A photon frequency converter of one embodiment of the present invention includes: pump light generation means for outputting pump light of which light intensity is changed timewise; optical multiplexing means for multiplexing the pump light outputted from the pump light generation means and a signal photon and outputting the pump light and the signal photon; and optical demultiplexing means in which the signal photon and the pump light multiplexed by the optical multiplexing means are inputted and for separating an optical nonlinear medium that changes an instantaneous optical frequency of the signal photon by an optical Kerr effect induced by the pump light and the signal photon of which a frequency is changed in the optical nonlinear medium from the pump light. According to the present invention, by using the optical Kerr effect as an optical wavelength conversion process of a photon, a photon frequency converter with reduced cost and noise can be provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
