<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-thermal equilibrium plasma ignition device showing ignition stability even in an internal combustion engine having difficult ignitability. <P>SOLUTION: In the non-thermal equilibrium plasma ignition device 4 generating non-thermal equilibrium plasma in a discharge space 14 by applying ≥10 kV high voltage from a high voltage power source 2 for 1 ns to 1 μs voltage application time per cycle according to an ignition plug 1 wherein a central electrode 10 covered with a glass part 11 and a grounded electrode 13 are opposed to each other via the prescribed discharge space 14 and an ignition signal IGt emitted from an ECU 3 and reacting radicals having high reactivity with a mixed gas of a combustible material and a combustion supporting gas introduced in a combustion chamber 500 of an internal combustion engine 5 to perform ignition, nearly annularly formed electric field concentrated parts 102 and 132 are provided on either one surface or both surfaces of the central electrode 10 and the grounded electrode 13 and discharge induction parts 103 and 133 to be starting points of streamer discharge are provided at a part of the electric field concentrated parts 102 and 132. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
