<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte for a secondary battery and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery excellent in low temperature discharge characteristics and/or cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte to be used for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a negative electrode and a positive electrode capable of occluding and discharging metallic ions and the nonaqueous electrolyte contains the following compounds (A) and (B).
