<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of smear signals even in a motion picture photographing mode to enable normal photographing of a photographing image by increasing a handling electric charge amount of a vertical transfer register. <P>SOLUTION: A solid-state imaging device has: sensor parts 11 arranged on a substrate 10 in a matrix and performing photoelectric conversion; reading parts 13 reading signal charges photoelectrically-converted in the sensor parts 11; vertical transfer parts 12 vertically transferring the signal charges depending on a first vertical transfer clock Vϕ1 in a first operation mode, and depending on a second vertical transfer clock Vϕ2 in a second operation mode; and a horizontal transfer part 15 horizontally transferring the signal charges vertically transferred from the vertical transfer parts 12. The first vertical transfer clock Vϕ1 has a first High level H1 and a first Low level L1.
