<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily performing management and operation of a supervision system, with efficient allocation of addresses to each supervision unit connected thereto, in the supervision system having a plurality of supervision units successively connected to an upper-level control device for performing management and operation. <P>SOLUTION: On each supervision unit, a communication circuit including a driver/receiver IC and a semiconductor switch is mounted. By receiving an address set command signal which is output from the upper-level control device, a supervision unit having no address set thereto yet sets an address. Another address set command signal is output from the upper-level control device. Further, a supervision unit having an address already set thereto transfers the address set command signal to a supervision unit of the next stage.
