PURPOSE: A self piecing split rivet and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to firmly join an upper metal plate and lower plate and to increase a production speed by manufacturing a self piecing split rivet through a forging process. CONSTITUTION: A self piecing split rivet(100) comprises a head unit(110) and a body unit(120). A groove(121) is formed in the inner lower part of the body unit. Two slits(123) are formed in the lower leading part of the body unit to be faced to each other. The lower leading end part is split into two parts.
