<p>Chimney blocking apparatus 2 has a handle 4, telescopic support means 6 having a longitudinal axis (7 fig 9), chimney blocking means 8 and an actuation mechanism configured to firstly extend the telescopic support means and deploy the chimney blocking means outwardly and secondly collapse the chimney blocking means 8 inwardly towards the longitudinal axis. The actuation mechanism may include a first resilient means (77 fig 8) for collapsing the chimney blocking means 8 and a second resilient means (124 fig 8) for extending the support means. The apparatus may further include a first hub (76 fig 10) and a second hub 20 which are displaceable along the support means, the second hub being situated closer to the handle than the first hub. The chimney blocking means may include a collapsible spoked frame 14 (16 fig 4), and a flexible membrane (18 fig 7), and in its deployed state the blocking means may have a concave surface facing away from the handle.</p> |
