METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ALLOCATING RANGING CODES IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A ranging code allocation method and an apparatus thereof in a communication system are provided to classify a class in which a terminal is included by suing distance between a terminal and a femto base station and to perform ranging by using a ranging code. CONSTITUTION: A macro BS(Base Station) broadcasts neighbor femto BS related information(400). The macro BS receives a ranging request including class information for indicating an interference intensity level of a neighbor macro base station(405). The macro base station allocates one ranging code including a corresponding class dedicated code subset to the terminal(420,425). The allocated ranging code is allocated to the terminal.
