<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing easily dissolvable sponge platinum, in which there is no risk regarding safety, such as risk of hydrogen explosion during operation, which is economically advantageous, and in which sponge platinum is easily dissolved and dissolution residue is not produced at aqua regia dissolution. <P>SOLUTION: An alkali such as sodium hydroxide is added to ammonium chloroplatinate and dissolved, a reducing agent such as hydrazine is added to the obtained solution to obtain the sponge platinum, and then, the separated and recovered sponge platinum in a wet state is heated to the temperature of 800-1,000°C as it is, and roasted.
