<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a good-quality polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether carboxylic acid and/or a salt of the same by using a stirring tank type reactor. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether carboxylic acid and/or a salt of the same is characterized in that, in oxygenating a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether with oxygen, by using a stirring tank type reactor which is equipped with a stirring tank 12 and a stirring blade 11 (except for one constructed by including a flat plate-shaped member with a notch) linked to a rotationally driving shaft 13, and supplying oxygen to a liquid phase portion containing a noble metal catalyst, the polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether, and an alkaline substance, a ratio (S2/S1) of the maximum cross section S1 of a plane vertical to a region occupied with the liquid phase portion in the stirring tank to the maximum projected area S2 of the stirring blade seen from a direction forming a right angle with the rotation axis of the shaft is set to be 0.20 to 0.90. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
