The machine has format parts comprising contact surfaces at which envelope strips (12) are arrived during a transport movement with a side edge at a system. The side edge of the envelope strips is moved by the system at one contact surface during the transport movement from a lateral alignment into a curved alignment. The contact surface is formed such that sectional lines of portions of the contact surface with sectional planes perpendicular to a direction (C) of the transport movement of the envelope strips exhibit a parabola portion. The parabola portion is a portion of a parabola second order. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing format parts of a strand manufacture machine.
