PURPOSE: A steel type prediction method for continuous casting of different types of steel is provided to reduce scrap due to a mixed band by estimating the formation time of a mixed band in strand and changing the cutting position of the strand. CONSTITUTION: A steel type prediction method for continuous casting of different types of steel comprises the steps of: setting a mold discharge rate(T)(S10), calculating mold discharge parameters(A1,A2,X0,p) from the mold discharge rate(S20), calculating a steel type component concentration according to the mold discharge rate from the mold discharge parameters(S30), and estimating a steel type or mixed band by comparing the steel type component concentration with the set minimum and maximum allowable values(S40).
