<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire capable of improving well balancedly low fuel consumption amd mechanical strength; and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same for each member (particularly, tread) of the tire. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire includes a natural rubber, compounds represented by formula (1) and/or formula (2), and carbon black, wherein the content of the natural rubber in 100 mass% of rubber components is ≥50 mass%; the total content of the compounds represented by formula (1) and formula (2) is 0.3 to 10 pts.mass with respect to 100 pts.mass of the total of carbon black and silica. In formula (1), p denotes an integer of 2 to 8.
