<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thick film coating of a steel material with a water based coating material, by which the coating film is rapidly dried to carry out the coating efficiently for a short time and the high quality dried coating film free from defects is obtained. <P>SOLUTION: In the method of drying the coating film formed by applying the water based coating material, having 30-70 mass% of solid portion on the surface of the steel material, to have ≥150 μm thickness, the coating film formed by applying the water based coating material on the surface of the steel material is naturally dried under 10-40°C atmospheric temperature until the water content of the coating film becomes 60 mass% or less of water content right after the coating, and next, by an induction heater, the coating film is dried by heating the steel material at a temperature of [atmospheric temperature+1°C] to [atmospheric temperature+20°C] and ≤80°C so that the temperature gradient (coating film surface layer side temperature<coating film lower layer side temperature) in a film thick direction of the coating film is 5-140°C/mm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
