<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate a self-inflating feature for self-inflating a tire within the tire. <P>SOLUTION: The self-inflating tire system includes: a tire having a tire carcass comprising a tire cavity defined by a tire inner liner, first and second sidewalls extending respectively from first and second tire bead regions to a tire tread region; and a compression actuator means mounted to the tire carcass for compressing air for delivery to the tire cavity and having a containment body for containing a non-compressible medium. In the compression actuator means, the containment body is affixed to a high flex-deformation region of the tire carcass; the containment body alternately transforms between a deformed state and a non-deformed state responsive to deformation and recovery of the rolling tire; the actuator means containment body in the deformed state displaces a pressurized quantity of the non-compressible medium; and the non-compressible medium thus displaced generates a force by which a volume of the air delivered to the tire cavity is compressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
