<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device which suppresses color unevenness, luminance unevenness, and so on; and to provide a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device includes a plurality of LEDs 1 as a light source. The LEDs 1 has a first light-emitting diode group connected to a first circuit 9, and a second light-emitting diode group connected to a second circuit 10 which is different from the first circuit 9, in series.
