A method of fixing sliding and guiding members of light metal or thermoplastic material to drop forged articles is characterized in that the fin which is produced on all drop forged articles is used as means for anchoring one or more sliding or guiding members which are applied to the article by extrusion, casting or pressing, said members engaging wholly or partly around said article. In an embodiment, the fins 4, 6 evolved during forging of a beam 3, Fig. 2, serve as anchoring elements for thermoplastic sliding members 5 applied by extrusion. The fins are cut, set and curled as shown in Fig. 7, prior to the application of the sliding members. In another embodiment the frame 8 of a drag shoe 7, Fig. 3, is provided with a thermoplastic wearing cover 8<SP>1</SP> which is secured to the frame by the method of the invention. The fin may be corrugated Fig. 8, or roller, Fig. 10. If a very strong connection is required, additional fins or ribs are welded to the forging. In a further embodiment a wearing and guiding member 15 is secured to the web 12 of a chain shackle, Figs. 11 and 12. |
