PURPOSE: A coating composition for sterilizing the surface of eggs is provided to remove completely remove bacteria on the surface of eggs, to prevent the evaporation of the moisture contained within the egg, and to prolong a preservation period. CONSTITUTION: A coating composition for sterilizing the surface of eggs comprises: 60-97 weight% of alcohols, 2-39 weight% of shellac, and 0.05-5 weight% of propolis; or 40-90 weight% of alcohol, 1-30 weight% of shellac, 9-50 weight% of water, 0.5-20 weight% of sodium hydrogen carbonate, and 0.05-5 weight% of propolis. The coating composition for sterilizing the surface of eggs further includes pigments or dyes. |
