<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal material for instruments that has a small sliding resistance, extends the service life, is hardly damaged by torsion, rolling, or extrusion of the seal material. <P>SOLUTION: This seal material includes at least a right stopper part 30r that is extended substantially horizontally outward from an upper right part of a body 20 and formed so that the right surface 34r is positioned outside a right end 44r of a right lip part 40r, a left stopper part 30l that is extended substantially horizontally outward from an upper left part of a body 20 and formed so that the left surface 34l is positioned outside a left end 44l of a left lip part 40l.
